Kabao is our assistant at Little Hands Preschool. Very few home based preschool's or daycare's employ assistants because of the cost and legal difficulty. Her work is invaluable to us though as it allows our teacher Jennifer to concentrate on lessons instead of the administration and maintenance tasks. Kabao's responsibilities include: Safety Kabao is responsible for creating and enforcing a daily system of safety checks. At the start of each day she checks each room for potential hazards such as uncovered outlets, sharp or chokable objects, and makes sure all areas that are unsafe for children are locked. By having a form filled out each day we are able to ensure a safer environment for your child to learn in. Nutrition We are making many improvements to our menu planning over the next several months. We are transitioning from meals that are prepackaged to homemade meals. We are also recording which meals encourage children to eat their fruits and vegetables so we can encourage these food choices by serving them move often. We will also be having regular "try new food" days where we will serve foods the children may not have tried before. Cleanliness Kabao also helps us keep a clean and tidy classroom. Having a beautiful prepared environment is an important part of running a montessori preschool and having enough staff ensures cleaning is done in a timely manner. Children are taught to clean their classroom as an important practical life lesson and Kabao assists them as they become more independent and are able to perform more cleaning tasks.
