| Children are encouraged to use the family room as another area to do their work. This is also where our television is located. We have all been to home daycares that use cartoons and junk TV as a means of crowd control. We strongly disagree with this practice. We have a system hooked to our television like TIVO that allows us to preview upcoming shows and record them. When we see shows that we feel are relevent to what we're teaching in class we occasionally will use these shows to supplement the children's learning. We feel that when used appropriately television can convey concepts that books and lessons simply can't, but we are committed to limiting the amount we use this tool.
